On Thursday, July 16, 2021, I was a featured author on BookGoodies for my very first poetry book and its new cover Inspire Me: Raw. You can get your copy by clicking on my store which will take you to directly to Amazon.
This week our guest is the amazing Che’Rae Adams. We discuss what it takes to write a good story and how the story germinates from the soul. That inner voice drawing us to write our story. We discuss the concept sentence, the why of writing and even when we write a memoir or solo show there is a beginning, middle, and an end. Che’Rae Adams is the Producing Artistic Director of the LA Writers Center http://www.lawriterscenter.org
This week we have an informative talk with Trini Rodriguez discussing Native American and Mexican American healing sweat-lodges and healing circles. How these concepts bring us closer to the soul. We discuss how they facilitate the “self” in becoming “whole” and we see how the Aztec (Sun) calendar guides us to the essence of our character.
Trini Rodriguez (AKA Tlazohteotl) is co-founder and former Executive Director of Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural & Bookstore (www.tiachucha.org). A cultural center/bookstore in L.A’s San Fernando Valley that transforms community through ancestral knowledge, the arts, literacy, and creative engagement. A former bilingual educator, court interpreter, and newspaper editor, she writes, speaks, and strives for personal and collective healing and systemic social change. Trini facilitates women’s healing sweat-lodge and healing circles in Native American and Native Mexican traditions. She and her husband Luis J Rodriguez produce “The Hummingbird Cricket Hour” podcast (http://hummingbirdcricket.libsyn.com/) to explore thoughts and move hearts on pressing matters of life, social change, and philosophy.
Last week I was in Chicago. I planned on writing for my upcoming book Inspire Me: In Time of Need (see the draft of the book cover). Guess what – I didn’t write at all. I didn’t record or edit an episode for the podcast. It was a time of reflecting. Clearing out my mom’s apt because she moved into a facility was numbing. She’s such a loving mother. She seems happy and this is all I ask. I’m at the point in my life where many friends and family are going through the exact emotions and experiences. It’s just part of life. Accepting and working through the natural progression of life. Many blessings for those who go through the same experiences. Sending much gratitude to all.
This week on the Poetic Resurrection Podcast we have Alex Greenwood, author of The John Pilate Mysteries Series. We discuss writing mysteries, the soul of the character, and what influences writing. Every time we talk, we laugh and have fun. Listen to this episode you’ll learn about his writing process and have a few laughs along the way.
Monday, June 14, 2021, is the first episode of season two where we discuss the Soul Connection with guest Jaclyn Steele. We discuss how our soul’s calling intertwines our lives, beliefs, and our connection with others.
Season two introduces the various facets of the soul, inner being, and universal knowledge.
This season’s theme is the Journey of the Soul, or as others might call it the higher self, the inner voice, universal knowledge, and inspiration. It’s that inner voice that teaches us our purpose and loves all no matter our differences. It inspires, it’s tolerant, it’s accepting and appreciative.
In this season we’ll address the soul of love, connection, writing, leadership, acceptance, and the arts and how they influence our daily lives. As always, we will explore perceptions.
